The Port Authority of the Bay of Cadiz (APBC) is preparing to open the City Quay for public use by extending the shade modules with the installation of four new awning structures, in addition to the four placed last September in the area closest to the access to Plaza de Sevilla.
The intention of the port authority is to have different spaces with shadows and benches prepared on the quay so that when the bicycle lane is opened, pedestrians can also access the area.
The modules installed occupy a surface area of 256 square metres, which together with the first phase fitted out add up to 512 square metres of shade. Concrete benches are also being installed for pedestrian rest and both vertical and horizontal signage will be enhanced for the safety of users.
This approach is provisional while the project to integrate the port into the city is being implemented, which will require a comprehensive urban design with the entire environment.
